Hey there, tadpoles!
The hardworking team of frogs here at the pond recently released yet another new WordPress theme, and so today, we’re going to take a walk around… ColorCoded.
We all know how important the visual component is, in the learning and understanding process; the studies are done, the numbers are in. So we thought, “Let’s use that little factoid, in a theme design, shall we?.” The rest, as they say in the classics, is history. And the result is a beautifully clean and crisp design, that uses visual coloured flags to represent the different categories of posts. It’s a doddle to setup, like all our themes, and as far as choosing colours goes? No limits. You’re in the drivers seat. Of course, if you want some professional help with choosing colour palettes, you need look no further the web. We did a quick Google search and turned up these two gems:
- Color Schemer Online V2. This looks like a goody. There’s a free-to-use online version, and some nice paid desktop versions for Mac and Windows.
- Kuler by Adobe. A great, free online tool from the folks who bring you Photoshop for pretty much everything, including recently, Photoshop Touch for Android and iOS.
Here’s what the theme looks like:
You’ll immediately notice the category navigation carousel in the header (It’s also repeated in the footer, for your reader’s browsing convenience), which is animated to cycle through your categories in a restful slide, and keeps whispering to the reader “There’s more cool content here. Lots more, yessss…”. It’s like subliminal programming, really.
You’ll also notice the four social sharing links we’ve built in. These appear next to the post in excerpt and full views, and make it really easy for readers to promote you content. All the big social networks Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and LinkedIn, are catered for.
We’re sure by now you can’t wait to give it a try, so, shoot over to the fully populated ColorCoded demo and have a drive around. And we *know* you’ll want a copy for yourself, so you can go straight to the purchase page and buy ColorCoded. Have fun!
